Cambridge-Hitachi, a joint venture of Hitachi Solutions and Cambridge University Press, has performed work for companies throughout Europe, including the law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP. When it engaged Cambridge-Hitachi, Freshfields wanted an online resource that would make its work-experience program more accessible to students throughout the United Kingdom. Freshfields’ program sought to reach out to students from a broad range of backgrounds and encourage them to pursue careers in law.
To assist in achieving that goal, Freshfields’ online resource needed to do three things: promote the legal profession, explore the various opportunities available within the profession, and highlight areas of practice outside of criminal law. To make that happen, Cambridge-Hitachi built a daylong activities program with high flexibility. The program encompassed four workshops, delivered either in one day or over a longer period of time in shorter intervals, to suit a range of schedules. Flexibility in the workshop design allowed for delivery either by Freshfields staff, or by teachers and volunteers outside the Freshfields office.
